Salzburg/Hamburg (February 20, 2019) –Earlier this week, Red Bull and Futur/io announced 21 participants from around the world who will attend the Red Bull Futur/io Academy this March in Lisbon, Portugal. The Academy’s official e-mobility partner, smart, today announces that one final ticket is now up for grabs, via the Wildcard by smart Challenge.
To enter, creative minds and storytellers can visit the Academy’s official website, www.redbullfutur.io and view the 21 global finalists for both inspiration and opportunity.
See what ideas clicked with the judges, and then think about what topics may be missing. Is there a vision for the future that you think has yet to be explored or realised? Share your idea before March 12 and you could secure the final place at the academy.

About Red Bull Futur/io
Will the future of mankind be filled with modern engineering, health, humanity, and prosperity—a utopia where humans and nature finally achieve a sustainable balance? Or will it be the dystopian apocalypse imagined in The Planet of the Apes and most zombie movies? That topic, and much more, will be discussed, debated, imagined, and explored at Red Bull Futur/io.
Red Bull Futur/io Academy, a 3-day summit of academics, futurists and disruptive minds, will be held in Lisbon, Portugal (March 21-24, 2019). The event will include workshops and discussions on future scenarios, storytelling, and exponential technologies. Participants will have the chance to develop and fine-tune their concepts with key thought leaders within this community and attend workshops on topics like the perfect pitch, technology in films, and idea visualization.
The first 20 finalists arose from a field of more than 900 entries, coming from students, scholars, dreamers, and visionaries from around the world. Each entrant shared their visions of the future in the form of 60 second videos; their entries were judged in the categories of Desirable Future, Creative Storytelling, and Inspiring Visions. The judges are esteemed authorities within their areas of expertise including futurism, filmmaking, storytelling, and design.
The 21stfinalist, Nick Sun from Ukraine, was selected as the ‘People’s Choice Wildcard’ chosen via a public vote on the Red Bull Futur/io website. The Wildcard by smart Challenge presents the 22nd and final chance for a member of the public to attend this year’s Academy.
On the final day of the Academy, all participants will have the opportunity to pitch their final concepts to the jury for a chance to turn their vision into a professional Red Bull Media House production.
